LP has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue education in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Applicants to the LP Scholarship Program must be:
Canadian students must be in their graduating year of secondary school, CEGEP or equivalent, or graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates.
Children of LP’s Board of Directors and executive officers (LP’s Sr. Management) are not eligible to apply.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.
The diversity of the scholarships awarded should match the diversity of the candidate pool (assuming all other criteria is met).
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of LP play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified by late April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of LP. Payments are issued in U.S. currency and processed in one installment in early August. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,500 award. Up to twenty-two (22) scholarships will be granted each year as follows:
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon the recipient maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, full-time enrollment (generally 24 credits per academic year or the equivalent) in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school in the U.S. or Canada, continued parental employment, and continuation of the program by LP.Awards are for undergraduate and CEGEP study only.
