Marguerite Lyons Scholarship

PNC Institutional Investments, Trustee, has established the Marguerite Lyons Scholarship to assist high school seniors from Boyd County, KY who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Marguerite Lyons Scholarship must be:

  • High school seniors who have resided in Boyd County, KY, for at least three (3) years.
  • Attending one of the following high schools:
Boyd County High School, Ashland, KY
Fairview High School, Ashland, KY
Greenup County High School, Greenup, KY
Lawrence County High School, Louisa, KY
Paul G. Blazer High School, Ashland, KY
Raceland-Worthington High School, Raceland, KY
Rose Hill Christian School, Ashland, KY
Russell High School, Russell, KY
  • Planning to enroll in the full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.


If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award in the amount determined by the Marguerite Lyons Scholarship Committee.

Awards may be renewed for up to five years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon the recipient maintaining a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by PNC Institutional Investments, Trustee.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances,  an online recommendation and consideration of financial need.

Selection of recipients is made by the Blanche and Thomas Hope Scholarship Committee. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Institutional Investments, Trustee. Paymentis made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Most recent filed tax return (Form 1040)
  • SAR from FAFSA

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 11, 2021 3:00 pm.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
