Macerich has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the Macerich Dependent Scholarship Program must be:
Children of employees at the Vice President level and above are ineligible to apply.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $4,000. Recipients who are attending a two-year college or vocational-technical school will be eligible to receive awards in the amount of $2,000. Recipients who are attending a four-year college or university will be eligible to receive awards in the amount of $4,000.
Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Awards are for undergraduate study only. One award per family per academic year.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Macerich. Payments are made in one installment in early August.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of consideration of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances and an online recommendation. Financial need will not be considered. In event of tie-breaker preference is given to new applicants.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Macerich play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
