The Charles A. Main, M.D. Scholarship Fund of William Beaumont Hospital

The Charles A. Main, M.D. Scholarship Fund of William Beaumont Hospital has been established to recognize and honor outstanding achievements made by present and former patients of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department of Corewell Health: William Beaumont University Hospital. The program is designed to assist families in meeting the expenses associated with advanced education.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Charles A. Main, M.D. Scholarship Fund of William Beaumont Hospital must be:

  • Present or prior patients, treated directly by the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department of Corewell Health: William Beaumont University Hospital
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire academic year.

Awards

Awards of $2,000 will be granted for full-time undergraduate or graduate study.

Awards of $1,000 will be granted for part-time undergraduate or graduate study.

Awards are renewable. Renewal is based on maintaining satisfactory academic performance in a part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study and continuation of the program by Corewell Health: William Beaumont University Hospital.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Notification

Applicants will be notified late-May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Corewell Health: William Beaumont University Hospital. Payments are made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Corewell Health: William Beaumont University Hospital play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 29, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
