Mambo Seafood Houston Scholars Program

Mambo Management, L.P. has established a scholarship program to assist students who will be or have graduated from a school in the Greater Houston, Texas area or the Houston Texas school district and plan to continue their education in college.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Mambo Seafood Houston Scholars Program must:

  • Be high school seniors or current college undergraduates
  • Be graduating or have graduated from a high school within the Greater Houston, Texas area or Houston Texas School District
  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent

Employees and employee’s dependents of Mambo Seafood Restaurants are ineligible.


If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 . Up to 5 awards will be granted. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.


All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Mambo Management, L.P. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, an online recommendation, and financial need.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America and Mambo Management, L.P. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

  • The first two pages of your parents (or your own if you are not claimed as a dependent) IRS tax form 1040.

NOTE: If an applicant isn’t able to provide tax documents, any documentation that could be used to verify Adjusted Gross Income such as a screenshot from ADP (or similar) or any other document from the government will be accepted. If documentation isn’t available, a Word document describing your situation can be uploaded.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 4, 2022 3:00 pm Central Time.
