MasTec has established a scholarship program to assist employees and their dependent children who plan to continue their education in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the MasTec Scholarship Program must be:
*Employees must plan to enroll or already be enrolled in part-time or full-time undergraduate study (minimum six credit hours per term for the full academic year) at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
**Dependent children must be high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
Employees or dependents of employees, where the employee has been designated as a Highly Compensated Employee (HCE), are not eligible to receive a MasTec Scholarship. An HCE is defined by the IRS annually. For 2025, the income criterion to be classified as a highly compensated employee is at $160,000. If both parents work for MasTec and either is an HCE, the dependent is ineligible to be a scholarship recipient.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $3,500-$4,500 award. Up to seven (7) awards will be granted.
Potential recipients who do not demonstrate need or who do not provide financial information will be eligible to receive a $3,500 award. Recipients who demonstrate financial need will be eligible to receive a $4,500 award.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent on the basis of maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent), continued full-time employment with MasTec of employee or parent, and continuation of the program by MasTec.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants will be notified in mid-June.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of MasTec. Payments are made in August and December.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Employees will be required to upload a recommendation from their supervisor.
Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of MasTec play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Applicants may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
As part of your application, you must upload the following:
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
