The Master Lock Company Scholarship Program

The Master Lock Company has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees worldwide who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to The Master Lock Company Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time Master Lock Company employees worldwide who have a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline.
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Completing their last year or be graduates of high school/upper secondary school or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,500 award.Up to six (6) awards will be granted. If qualified applications are received, international locations will be represented among the recipients.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at The Master Lock Company, and continuation of the program by The Master Lock Company.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

All applicants will be notified in June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The Master Lock Company. Payment is made in August. Recipients’ parents must remain employed at the time checks are issued.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of The Master Lock Company play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

  • A current, complete transcript of grades, including the most recently completed term. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours, and term in which the course was taken.NOTE:  If you are uploading a high school transcript, you must also upload a copy of your official SAT or ACT test scores if the test scores are not available on your high school transcript.

Due to differences in educational systems, applicants from countries other than the U.S. and Canada must provide the following materials:

  • English translations for all non-English documents
  • Legible photocopies of the following educational documents from the past four years:
    • Academic record (transcript of grades)
    • Secondary school credential/diploma/certificate, if earned, and
    • Results of academic examinations.

      NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 5, 2022 3:00 pm CT.
