Metro Credit Union Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Metro Credit Union has established a scholarship program to assist members and children of members who plan to continue their education in college.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants of the Metro Credit Union Scholarship Program award must:

  • Be a high school senior at the time of application
  • Be dependent * children of Metro Credit Union members, or members themselves, who have a minimum of six months membership with the credit union as of the application deadline date.
  • Plan to enroll for the first time in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)

*Dependent children are children who qualify as federal tax exemptions to the member.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award. Up to 19 awards will be granted. Awards are one time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must show need.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any director, officer or employee of Metro Credit Union play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Metro Credit Union. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August.
