Milliken & Company Employee Dependent Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Milliken & Company Employee Dependent Scholarship ProgramMilliken & Company has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational-technical/polytechnic institution programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Milliken & Company Employee Dependent Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 26 and under, of all Milliken & Company employees** as of the application date.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
**Employees in Europe may be full-time or part-time; employees in the Americas and Asia Pacific must be full-time.
  • High school seniors/students in their final year of upper secondary school, high school/upper secondary school graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical/polytechnic institution (or equivalent) for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If the applicant pool allows, awards will be granted as follows:

  • Seven (7) awards of $5,000 will be granted to applicants in the Americas
  • Two (2) awards of $5,000 will be granted to applicants in Europe
  • Three (3) awards of $1,600 will be granted to applicants in the Asia Pacific

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, maintained enrollment and continuation of the program by Milliken & Company. Renewal is not contingent upon continued parental employment at Milliken & Company.

Renewal awards must be used in consecutive years.
For example, if a recipient graduates with an associate’s degree, works for two years and decides to seek a bachelor’s degree, the recipient will not be eligible for a renewal award and will be required to reapply.
However, if a student graduates with an associate’s degree and enrolls in a four-year college/university (or equivalent) the upcoming semester to pursue their bachelor’s degree, the student will be eligible for a renewal award and would not need to reapply.

Recipients have a lifetime scholarship maximum of four years. For example, if the scenario above occurs, the recipient will only be eligible for four total years of funding.

Awards are for undergraduate study only. Awards can be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of career and educational goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Milliken & Company play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

The Milliken & Company applicants state, province and country information will be shared with the Sponsor of this program.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in April.
