Milton J. Wood Company and Milton J. Wood Fire Protection (MJW) have established a scholarship program to assist MJW employees and their children who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for the following:
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America® the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin or any status protected by law.
Applicants to the Milton J. Wood Scholarship Program must meet the following criteria:
The authorized distribution for new awards will be up to $60,000. If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $3,000 to $8,000. Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of the award.
Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
The recipient can receive the award for multiple years but they cannot receive more than a lifetime amount of $32,000.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Once scholarship recipients are selected, financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award, ranging from $3,000 to $8,000.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of MJW play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of MJW. Payments are made in equal installments in mid July and late November.
