National Grid Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: June 16, 2023 4:00 pm ET

National Grid has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the National Grid Scholarship Program must:

  • Be children* of full-time National Grid employees in the United States (U.S.) who have a minimum of one (1) year of continuous service (actively working) with the company as of January 1, 2023
*Children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current college undergraduates or graduate level students
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $3,000 award. Up to 15 awards will be granted. If qualified applications are received, recipients will be selected in proportion to the number of applications received from both undergraduate and graduate students.

Awards are renewable up to three (3) additional years or until a bachelor’s and/or graduate degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and continued full-time enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Recipients may continue renewing their award beyond completion of their undergraduate degree if they immediately attend graduate school, continue to meet the renewal requirements detailed above, and have not already received the award four (4) years.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

All applicants will be notified in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • An online recommendation

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of National Grid play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 21, 2023 4:00 pm Eastern Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
