NGK Spark Plugs (USA) and NTK Technologies Inc. have established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the NGK Spark Plugs (USA) and NTK Technologies Inc. Associate Scholarship Program must:
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to four (4) awards will be granted to children of NGK associates and up to two (2) awards will be granted to children of NTK associates. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, and continued employment of the student’s parent at NGK Spark Plug (USA) and NTK Technologies, Inc. (excluding permanent workforce reduction as noted below) and continuation of the program by NGK Spark Plugs (USA) and NTK Technologies Inc.
If an Associate has a child who has been granted a scholarship award, but the Associate’s employment ends due to permanent workforce reduction, NGK and NTK will provide the scholarship award earned, provided the student qualifications are maintained.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants will be notified in June.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of NGK Spark Plugs (USA) and NTK Technologies Inc. Payment is made in Mid-August.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of NGK Spark Plugs (USA) or NTK Technologies Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
