Louis-Edward Nicklies Scholarship Program

PNC Bank, N.A. has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors in Jefferson County, Kentucky, who plan to continue their education in an accredited four-year college, university or School of Divinity, and primary campus located in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Louis-Edward Nicklies Scholarship Program must:

  • Be public, parochial, or private high school seniors in Jefferson County, Kentucky
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college, university or School of Divinity and primary campus located in Jefferson County, Kentucky for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Be pursuing an eligible major/field of study:
    • Law
    • Engineering
    • Teaching
    • Medicine (Physician)
    • Ministry

PNC Employees, children of PNC employees, or Trust committee members are ineligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive up to a $3,000 award.

The authorized distribution for new awards, the number of new awards, and renewal amounts are determined each year based on the Fund performance.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance, full-time enrollment, and continued study at an eligible school and eligible major/field of study. A PNC Bank, N.A. selection committee will determine the renewal amounts.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, N.A. Payment is made from late July through early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation from a high school guidance counselor

Financial need must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Scholarship America will evaluate and forward all eligible applicants to PNC Bank, N.A., and a selection committee will review applicant data, including all essay responses, and select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 13, 2025 4:00 pm Eastern Time.
