Nixon Peabody LLP Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Nixon Peabody LLP, through The Boston Foundation, Inc., has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. Nixon Peabody is committed to creating and considering a diverse applicant pool.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Nixon Peabody LLP Scholarship Program must be:

  • Children of regular full-time and part-time benefits eligible (not project employees) Nixon Peabody LLP employees and children of employees of wholly owned subsidiaries of Nixon Peabody LLP who have a minimum of one year of employment with the firm as of the application deadline date.
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of Nixon Peabody LLP attorneys are not eligible.

Awarding Information

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award. Up to five (5) awards will be granted as long as there are a sufficient number of qualified applicants.

Awards are renewable for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in full-time study and continuation of the program by The Boston Foundation, Inc. for Nixon Peabody LLP.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Honors
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer, partner, or employee of The Boston Foundation or Nixon Peabody LLP play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students not receiving an award may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the sponsor. Payments are made in one installment in early August. A check will be mailed to each recipient’s home address and made payable to the school for the student.

Obligations

Recipients have no obligation to The Boston Foundation, Inc. or Nixon Peabody LLP. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship America of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information and to send a complete transcript when requested.

Revisions

The sponsor reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
