NJR Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Program

NJR Service Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the NJR Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of active, retired** or deceased*** New Jersey Resources or any of its subsidiaries (collectively, NJR) domestic, full- or part-time employees who have a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline.
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
    **Children of retired NJR employees provided an application was submitted prior to the employee’s retirement.
    ***Children of deceased NJR employees whose death occured while he or she was employed full- or part-time by NJR.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $ 1,500 award. The award is renewable for up to three additional years or until a vocational degree or certificate or bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at NJR and continuation of the program by NJR Service Corporation.

Awards will not be made for study at a government-subsidized military academy.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in mid March.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of NJR Service Corporation. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, an essay on diversity and inclusion, and any unusual personal or family circumstances that may exist.

Financial need will not be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of NJR Service Corporation play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
