The 2025 Nuveen Invest in the Future Scholarship supports expectant first-generation college students who dream big and are determined to make a meaningful mark on their career path.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, America’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

*For the purposes of this scholarship program, first-generation college student is defined as neither parent/guardian having ever received a 4-year college degree (or international equivalent)
**For purposes of this scholarship program, socio-economically disadvantaged is defined as: participation in federal social welfare program (or international equivalent such as, but not limited to: eligible for free school meals, live in neighborhood of socio-economic deprivation, first generation of their family to attend university, have been in local authority care)
Nuveen employees and their immediate family members are not eligible
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award for the first year. Up to five (5) awards will be granted. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a minimum grade point average 2.5 or above on a 4.0 (or equivalent) scale in a full-time course of study.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants will be notified in May.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Nuveen Services, LLC. Payment is made in early August for recipients in the U.S. and Canada. Award payments for recipients outside of U.S. and Canada will be ongoing from early August.
Awards can be used for any education-related expenses.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Academic evaluation will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Nuveen Services, LLC, play a part in the selection.
Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores (US students only), and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
