The Odyssey Group Scholars Program was established to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Eligible children are invited to apply and up to three (3) renewable scholarships will be offered for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Children of Senior Vice Presidents and above are ineligible to apply.
Limited to one active award per employee family.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of up to $10,000. Up to three (3) awards will be granted. Awards may be renewed for up to three consecutive years or until completion of the enrolled degree/vocational program, whichever occurs first.
Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, continued employment of the student’s parent at Odyssey Reinsurance Company, and continuation of the program by Odyssey Reinsurance Company.
Awards are for undergraduate study only and are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Odyssey Reinsurance Company. Payments are made in equal installments on early August and mid-December. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.
Selection of Recipients
Financial need will be considered. Recipients will be selected from a pool of qualified applicants with consideration given to those who demonstrate the greatest need.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Odyssey Reinsurance Company play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
