OTR Diversity in Business Scholarship

OTR Capital, LLC has established a scholarship program to provide opportunities to students that demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the OTR Diversity in Business Scholarship must:

  • Self-identify as a member of at least one of the following underserved groups:
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Asian
    • Black or African American
    • Hispanic or Latino
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Female (any race or ethnicity)
    • LGBTQIA+ (any race or ethnicity)
    • Disabled or developmentally disabled
  • Be current college undergraduates residing in Arizona, Georgia or Tennessee
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year

OTR Capital employees and their children are not eligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,800 award. Up to 5 awards will be granted. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in mid-July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of OTR Capital, LLC. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 (Please black out social security number)
  • Supplemental Financial Form (if needed)

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 1, 2022 3:00 pm CT.
