Pacific Life Scholarship Program for Children of Employees
Deadline to apply: March 15, 2023 3:00 pm CT

Pacific Life Insurance Company has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue education in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Pacific Life Scholarship Program for Children of Employees must be:

  • Dependent* children (up through age 22) of current Pacific Life full-time employees. Also eligible are dependent children of employees who retired less than six months prior to application deadline.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Current high school seniors, high school graduates, or college undergraduates who are enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Once recipients are selected, financial need is assessed to determine the amount of each award. Recipients whose parents choose not to supply the requested financial information will be eligible to receive a one-time $1,000 honorarium. Only one honorarium will be awarded each year.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Pacific Life Insurance Company play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Pacific Life Insurance Company. Payment is made in early August.

For four-year college students, financial need will be considered in determining the size of the award; however, qualified students demonstrating no financial need may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 honorarium. Students who elect not to complete the Financial section of the application will also be eligible only for a one-time $1,000 honorarium. Only one honorarium can be awarded each year.

Four-year college awards will range from $1,000 to $3,000. Up to four awards may be given annually.

Two-year college students must demonstrate at least $200 in need.

One two-year college award of $500 may be granted annually. There will be only one active $500 award at a time.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continued parental employment. Two-year college students may transfer to a four-year college, and the award may be increased after review of financial information, with approval of the sponsor.

Honorariums are not renewable. Students who receive an honorarium may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 20, 2023 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
