Panda Leaders Scholarship Program

The Panda Leaders Scholarship Program proudly supports qualifying associates in pursuit of their educational goals. Driven by Panda’s values of developing others and continuous learning, this program aims to create the space and give applicants additional support to become high performing and inspirational leaders living Panda’s mission to inspire better lives.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Frequently Asked Questions/Instructions

Applicants to the Panda Leaders Scholarship Program must:

  • Positions: Be full-time Panda Restaurant associates, in the position of Shift Leader, Training Leader, General Manager, Assistant Manager, Chef, Cook, Multi-Unit Manager or Support Center Associate (up to P3 level.)
  • Good Standing: With alignment from a Panda OPS leader, employees must meet expectations and there must be a individual development plan in place. Employees also must not have any disciplinary records on file.
  • Hire Date: Be employed a minimum of twelve months and average of 30 hours per week over a 6-month period.
  • Studies: Be high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate study at an U.S. accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • GPA: Have a minimum grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
  • Major Requirements: Be pursuing a major in business or hospitality.

Awards

Up to 300 awards will be granted. Award amounts are determined based on the student’s full-time or part-time enrollment and up to 80% of tuition coverage, with a maximum of $2,500 per year.

Awards may be renewed for part-time or full-time enrollment up to five additional years or until a Bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.

Renewal is contingent upon recipients continuing to meet the initial eligibility requirements of the scholarship program.

Awards are for undergraduate study (Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree) only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in December.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. Payments are made in December.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Panda Restaurants Group, Inc. play a part in the selection.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
