PGA REACH, the 501(c)3 foundation of PGA of America, has established a scholarship program to assist students intent on pursuing PGA of America Membership. These $8,000 scholarships are designed to improve the recruitment and retention of talented and motivated students from diverse backgrounds, who are pursuing PGA Membership through PGA Golf Management University Programs nationwide.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the PGA WORKS Golf Management University Scholarship Program must be:
Eligible individuals exclude persons or family members of the PGA of America National Board, staff, or scholarship selection committee.
Award Amounts
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an $8,000 award. Up to eleven (11) awards will be granted. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
One award will be given to the top candidate interested or experienced in working internationally. If there are no qualified candidates for the international interest award, it will be given to the next ranked candidate.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, an outside appraisal, and demonstrated active participation in the game of golf.
Financial need is not considered. To increase diversity and inclusiveness in PGA of America Membership, preference will be given to people of color and women.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America and PGA of America. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Notification
Applicants will be notified in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PGA of America. Payments are made in equal installments in early August and mid December.
Obligations
Recipients have no obligation to PGA of America. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship America of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information, and to send a complete official transcript when requested.
Revisions
PGA of America reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
