Deadline to apply: June 1, 2021 3:00 pm CT

PG&E Corporation Foundation (the “Foundation”) is awarding scholarships to help further the undergraduate studies of local students interested in being a part of California’s clean energy future.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Better Together STEM Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a high school senior or graduate; an individual that has earned their GED; a current college undergraduate; or a non-traditional student.
  • Reside in Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (“PG&E”) service territory, or be a dependent of a resident in PG&E’s service territory. See attached list of counties identified by PG&E.
  • Plan to enroll in full‑time undergraduate study at an accredited four (4) year college or university in California for the entire 2021-2022 academic year. The applicant must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree.

  • Twenty awards of $10,000 ($200,000).
  • Twenty awards of $2,500 ($50,000).

Award amounts will be determined based on the recipients’ financial need. The highest value awards will be granted to recipients with the highest demonstrated need.

Awards are not renewable: however, students may reapply each year they meet eligibility requirements. Awards may only be received a maximum of five years.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Preference will be given to members of underrepresented STEM minority groups (Women, Black, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian or Alaskan Native, People with Disabilities.)

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.
