Applicants will complete one application for consideration for all the scholarship funds under The Pittsburgh Foundation Community Programs.

Applicants will apply to The Pittsburgh Foundation Community Programs. One common application is completed to apply to any of the below funds. Applicants must meet the following criteria and the criteria of one or more of the scholarships listed:
- Be a United States citizen or permanent resident
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, current undergraduate or graduate student
- Be enrolled in or plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college/university or vocational-technical school in the United States
- Certification program must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length and applicants must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed in August
- Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent), unless specified otherwise
- Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study only
African American Volkswagen Employees’ Scholarship Fund
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, or current undergraduate
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Preference given to applicants who self-identify as Black, African, or African American
- This award is not renewable, but applicants may reapply each year they meet the eligibility criteria

Anna N. Dosen Serbian Educational Fund
- Graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, current undergraduate, or graduate student
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
- Be pursuing a degree in
- Engineering
- Health Sciences
- Financial need is considered but not required
- Preference given to applicants of Serbian descent
- This award is not renewable, but applicants may reapply each year they meet the eligibility criteria

Condie Nursing Scholarship Fund
- Graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, current undergraduate, or graduate student
- Enroll in a two- or four-year college/university
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Pursue a degree in Nursing
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Preference for specialization in geriatric nursing

G. Napier and Ellen T. Wilson Scholarship Fund
- Graduating high school senior who has volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center
- Enroll in a two- or four-year college or university
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
- Financial need is considered but not required
- This award is not renewable
- An estimated 1 award(s) will be granted for undergraduate study only
Lillian Gorell Scholarship Fund
- Current undergraduate or graduate student
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
- Financial need is considered but not required
- Plan to work and hold a career in the United States
- Preference will be given to visually impaired students
- Preference for students with an interest in the arts
- This award is renewable three times or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, based on maintaining a cumulative 2.5 GPA, on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and full-time enrollment
- An estimated 3 award(s) will be granted for undergraduate or graduate study only
Marguerite Young Endowment Fund
- Current undergraduate or graduate student
- Be enrolled at an accredited graduate program at a Protestant seminary as a master of Divinity candidate, preparing for full-time ministry
- OR
- Be a seminary intern working at a Protestant Church as a requirement for the degree program
- minimum 2.0 GPA
- Be pursuing a degree in Theology
- Financial need is considered but not required
- This award is not renewable, but applicants may reapply each year they meet the eligibility criteria
- An estimated 4 award(s) will be granted for undergraduate or graduate study only
Paul J. Baum Fund Scholarship
- Graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, current undergraduate, or graduate student
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Be pursuing a degree in Music
- Financial need is considered but not required
- Demonstrate active participation in music program(s)
- This award is not renewable, but applicants may reapply each year they meet the eligibility criteria
- An estimated 1 award(s) will be granted for undergraduate or graduate study only
Walter Read Hovey Memorial Fund
- Current undergraduate or graduate student
- Be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited graduate program of study
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Be studying Art History or a related field (i.e. museum work, conservation, or restoration)
- Financial need is considered but not required
- This award is not renewable, but applicants may reapply each year they meet the eligibility criteria
- An estimated 1 award(s) will be granted for graduate study only
Awards
Total distribution and the amount of each award for each fund shall be determined by The Pittsburgh Foundation.
Awards may be renewable as specified.
Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in late June.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The Pittsburgh Foundation. Payment is made in early August.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
- Work experience
- A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
- Unusual personal or family circumstances
Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, will be considered but may not be required.
If an award requires or prefers applicants who demonstrate financial need, a one-time honorarium award of $2,500 may be granted to those who do not demonstrate financial need.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of The Pittsburgh Foundation play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
