As PPL works to advance a more sustainable energy future for all customers, we believe it’s important that the people fueling that innovation, driving change, creating new customer programs and building tomorrow’s energy infrastructure reflect the diversity of those we serve.
In support of that vision, PPL Foundation’s Power Scholars Program is focused on attracting more women and minorities to careers in which they’ve historically been underrepresented and in which we believe they can play an important role in shaping our shared energy future.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Power Scholars Program must meet all the following criteria:
Previous recipients of this program or any other PPL Programs are not eligible to apply.
Employees and children of employees of PPL Corporation and its subsidiary companies are not eligible to apply.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Up to (15) fifteen awards will be granted. Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.
Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of PPL Foundation play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Assuming there are qualified applicants, preference will be given to groups that are underrepresented in the eligible fields.
All applicants will be notified in May.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PPL Foundation. Payment is made in August.
Award recipients will be given access for a year to WhichWay, a financial literacy tool with interactive financial education modules containing tools and tips that include the following topics:
