Gionandrea Pugi Scholarship Program

The Gionandrea Pugi Scholarship Fund has established a scholarship program to assist student’s of Italian descent who are currently enrolled in college or vocational school programs in the field of medicine or biology.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.  Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be of self-declared Italian descent.
  • Be currently enrolled college undergraduates planning to continue full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire 2022-23 academic year.
  • Be enrolled in studies in the field of medicine or biology (such as taking courses in preparation for Medical or Nursing school).
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or higher.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of $5,000. Up to two (2) awards will be granted.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic information, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need will not be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer of the Gionandrea Pugi Scholarship Fund play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


Applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Gionandrea Pugi Scholarship Fund. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document(s):

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must also be submitted on your behalf no later than June 9, 2022 3:00 pm Central Time.
