The RealReal Scholars Program
Deadline to apply: May 10, 2024 3:00 pm CT

The RealReal Community Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education by attending a college or vocational school program.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility
Applicants to the RealReal Scholars Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time employees of the RealReal who have a minimum of 6 months employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*Dependent children are children who qualify for benefits provided by the company.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming semester.

Awards are not available for graduate level study.

Award
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 for the entire academic year (fall and spring semester) or $1,000 to $2,500 per semester.  Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance.

The program will be administered in full compliance with IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47.

Awards are not available for graduate level study.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The RealReal Community Foundation. Payments are made in early August.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Honors
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An essay
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will be considered in determining the award amount. While applicants are not required to provide financial information, they may elect to do so to be considered for a higher award amount.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, the diversity of the recipient pool will proportionally reflect the diversity of the applicant pool.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 15, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
