The RealReal Scholars Program
Application status: Closed

The RealReal Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education by attending a college or vocational school program.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the RealReal Scholars Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time employees of the RealReal who have a minimum of 6 months employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*Dependent children are children who qualify for benefits provided by the company.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming semester.

Awards are not available for graduate level study.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $5,00 for the entire academic year (fall and spring semester) or $1,000 to $2,500 per semester.  Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance.

The program will be administered in full compliance with IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47.

Awards are not available for graduate level study.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, an essay and an online recommendation.

Financial need will be considered in determining the award amount. While applicants are not required to provide financial information, they may elect to do so to be considered for a higher award amount.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, the diversity of the recipient pool will proportionally reflect the
diversity of the applicant pool.

Applicants will be notified in mid November. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The RealReal Foundation. Payments are made in mid Decembr.
