Redken has established a scholarship program for students enrolled or accepted to a participating franchise location of The Salon Professional Academy.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

The Salon Professional Academy Franchise (TSPA) is owned by Salon Professional Education Company (SPEC). Applicants to the Redken Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a high school graduate or have a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Applicants must still be enrolled or recently graduated from The Salon Professional Academy at the franchise location and may not be enrolled in another school offering a similar course of study at the time of awarding or disbursement.
  • Newly accepted TSPA students must have a minimum 85% GPA and 90% attendance on their high school transcript.
  • Current TSPA students must have a minimum 85% GPA and 90% attendance at TSPA at the time of application.
    • A current TSPA student is not an eligible applicant if she/he has any no-call, no-show days on their attendance record.
  • If selected to be a recipient, all students must maintain 85% grades and 90% attendance at TSPA at the awarding checkpoints to be eligible. Winning students must be enrolled in a participating franchise location of The Salon Professional Academy.

Employees and family members of Redken, The Salon Professional Academy or the franchisor are not eligible for scholarships.

Awards

One award of $10,000, two awards of $5,000 each and 15 awards of $1,000 each will be granted to recipients.

Each scholarship award will be applied toward tuition, fees and books needed to complete the student’s training. The scholarship is not transferable as cash.

Awards are one time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Personal data
  • An online recommendation

The online recommendation must be completed by the student’s high school counselor or another official for newly accepted TSPA students. Current TSPA students must have the applicant appraisal completed by their TSPA educator or supervisor. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Redken or The Salon Professional Academy play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late July.

Payment of Scholarships

To receive payment, The Academy Director will need to submit a signed Academic/Enrollment Verification Transcript showing academic progress of 85% grades and 90% attendance at the verified completion of 900-hours of enrollment indicating the scholarship recipient qualifies.

The scholarship payment will be processed in September for recipients who have accepted the award online (SAF) and returned the completed Enrollment Verification Form by September 15. Checks for recipients accepting the award online (SAF) and returning the completed Enrollment Verification Form after September 15 will be processed on a weekly basis. Scholarship America will process award payment in one installment. The check will be made payable and mailed to The Salon Professional Academy on October 1.

For any awarded recipient who has not reached 900-hours by October 1, The Academy Director will need to notify Scholarship America and submit a signed Academic/Enrollment Verification Transcript when the scholarship recipient completes 900-hours and has 85% grades and 90% attendance. At that time, Scholarship America will send a check payable and mailed to The Salon Professional Academy franchise location.

Each scholarship award will be applied toward tuition, fees and books needed to complete the student’s training. The scholarship is not transferable as cash.

If the recipient is disqualified, no alternative awards will be provided and funds are to be returned to the sponsor.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
    • New TSPA students should upload their High School Transcript
    • Current TSPA students should upload their Cosmetology School Transcript

      NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than July 8, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

  • Newly accepted TSPA students must have the online recommendation completed by their high school counselor or another official.
  • Current TSPA students must have the online recommendation completed by their TSPA educator or supervisor.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
