Albert J. Robichaud Scholarship Program

Thank you for applying to the Sage Therapeutics Albert J. Robichaud Scholarship! This scholarship offers support to children of Sage employees who plan to continue their education in undergraduate, graduate, or vocational-technical school, with particular focus on those pursuing STEM degrees. The scholarship was established in 2023 in recognition of former Sage Chief Scientific Officer Al Robichaud’s legacy of scientific innovation. With this scholarship, we aim to inspire and support the next generation of leaders who, like Al, will make ground-breaking contributions to move our society forward.

Each year, Sage will grant up to two $5,000 scholarships to children of full-time Sage employees who plan to enroll in undergraduate or graduate studies at a two- or four-year university or vocational-technical school. Special consideration will be given to students pursuing a degree in STEM.

The application window opens on March 13 and applications are due by 4:00 PM Eastern Time on April 17.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Albert J. Robichaud Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent* children, of Sage Therapeutics employees who have a minimum of 1 year employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Plan to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year**.
    **Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length and recipients must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed in August.

Children of Sage Therapeutics leadership team (LT) are ineligible.

Awards

Selected recipient(s) will receive a $5,000 award. Up to two (2) awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified of selection results in June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Sage Therapeutics. Award checks are made payable to the applicant’s institution, but will be mailed to the student’s home address in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Sage Therapeutics will select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of the application process, you must include the following:

  1. Work Experience and Activities
  2. A statement of educational and career goals/ objectives (1,000 character limit)
  3. A current, complete transcript of grades (uploaded). Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
    NOTE: If you choose to provide SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
  4. One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 22, 2024 4:00 pm Central Time. The Recommender can be assigned in the application using their name and email.
