Riverside Sheriffs' Association Member Scholarship Program

Riverside Sheriffs’ Association and the Riverside County Deputy Sheriff Relief Foundation established a scholarship program to assist assist members of the Riverside Sheriffs’ Association in Riverside County, California, who plan to continue their education in college or university programs. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited four-year institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America.

Applicants to the Riverside Sheriffs’ Association Member Scholarship Program must:

  • Be active bargaining unit members of Riverside Sheriffs’ Association at the time awards are announced and August checks are issued.
  • Have earned at least an associate’s degree or equivalent thereof.
  • Plan to enroll or already be enrolled in a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university for the upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Four awards will be granted. Awards are not renewable; a student may receive only one Riverside Sheriffs’ Association award per lifetime.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

Financial need will not be considered.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected from one scholarship pool and all applicants who meet the eligibilities have a chance at receiving one of the four scholarships. Applications will be numbered and those numbers will be the scholarship pool. Four numbers will be drawn randomly from the pool and those drawn will be the recipients of the four scholarships. Students will receive the highest Riverside Sheriffs’ Association award for which they qualified. A student may receive only one Riverside Sheriffs’ Association award at a time.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or member of Riverside Sheriffs’ Association play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in February.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Riverside Sheriffs’ Association. Payment is made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • A copy of your associate’s degree, if applicable.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
