SAIC offers a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applying for the scholarship grants SAIC permission to announce all winners internally and will include employee and student names as well as the student’s chosen school/college and the employee’s work location.
Applicants to the SAIC Scholarship Program for Employees’ Children must be:
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to twenty (20) awards will be granted.
Awards are one time only and past recipients may not reapply. Non-recipients may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Please note that due to IRS regulations, the scholarship award amount will be reported as income on the SAIC employee’s W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement) and is subject to tax withholding by SAIC. Award recipients will not be taxed.
All applicants will be notified in mid-June by Scholarship America.
Employees and their dependents who are selected as recipients will be announced internally by SAIC on ISSAIC.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of SAIC. Payment is made in one installment in August. The checks are made out to the institution on behalf of the student and are mailed to the student address on file.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of SAIC play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
