SAS Scholars Program
Application status: Closed

SAS established the SAS Scholars Program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college programs. Renewable scholarships may be offered each year for full-time study at an accredited college or university of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

To be eligible to apply for the SAS Scholars Program, applicants must be:

  • Dependent* children, up to the age of 23, of active full-time or regular part-time employees of SAS or its subsidiaries who have a minimum of one year continuous employment as of the application deadline.

    *Dependent children are defined as biological and legally adopted children, stepchildren, or children of domestic partners (signed affidavit required).

  • High school graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university.

Award information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award.
  • Up to 8 new awards may be granted each year.
  • The awards may be renewed for up to 3 additional years until a bachelor’s degree is earned or recipient reaches 23 years of age whichever occurs first.
  • Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at SAS, and continuation of the program by SAS.

Awards are for undergraduate study towards a bachelor’s degree only.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid-May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of SAS. Payments are made in early August and mid-December.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Honors
  • Work experience and/or home responsibilities
  • Statement of career and educational goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of SAS play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Program Deadline

Your application must be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. Central Time on April 1, 2020.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken

Also, as part of your application, an online recommendation must be completed on your behalf by 3:00 p.m. CT on April 6, 2020.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
