Society of Allied Weight Engineers Scholarship Program

Society of Allied Weight Engineers, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist children and grandchildren of members of the Society of Allied Weight Engineers, Inc. (SAWE) who plan to continue their education in college.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Society of Allied Weight Engineers Scholarship Program award must be:

  • Children*, or grandchildren, age 25 and under, of members of the Society of Allied Weight Engineering, Inc. (SAWE) worldwide who have a minimum of one year of membership as of the application deadline. Children and grandchildren of deceased members are also eligible.

* For the purposes of this program, children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren of members.

  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university.

Award information:

  • The authorized distribution for new awards is $3,000. Up to three (3) awards of $1,000 each will be granted.
  • One (1) award will be given to a technical student (e.g. engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, etc.), for the SAWE/Frank Fong Memorial Scholarship.
  • There is no course of study requirement for the two (2) general SAWE scholarships.
  • Awards are not renewable, however students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
  • Awards are for full-time undergraduate study only.

 

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or member of SAWE play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of SAWE. Payment is made in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
