SC Johnson Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: January 15, 2025 3:00 pm CT

SC Johnson, through its corporate foundation SC Johnson Giving, Inc., has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees and retirees who plan to continue their education in college, vocational school or other approved educational programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the SC Johnson Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program must be:

  • Unmarried dependent* children, age 25 or under, of regular, part-time, retired or deceased SC Johnson domestic employees who have a minimum of one (1) year of continuous employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors, high school graduates, or current college undergraduates who are enrolled or plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational technical school, or other approved skill-development institution for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of employees at SC Johnson subsidiaries or associated companies are ineligible.

The program is only open to children of United States employees.

Award Amounts
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis on maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and full-time enrollment. Students who are in a five-year program, verified by the school, may renew up to four times. Continued parental employment is not a renewal eligibility requirement.

Scholarships to sons and daughters of company officers are limited to one-time honorariums in the amount of $1,000. Honorariums are not renewable. Students who receive an honorarium may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Past academic performance and future potential
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • One online recommendation

Once scholarship recipients are selected, financial data, if provided, is reviewed to determine the amount of each award.  Larger awards are granted to recipients whose families have less means to contribute toward postsecondary expenses. Smaller awards are granted to recipients whose families have greater ability to provide financial assistance. Potential recipients who do not demonstrate need (or who do not provide financial information) may be eligible to receive an award at the minimum amount.

The number of awards will be based on the number of applications received within budget and IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47 guidelines.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of SC Johnson play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Students may reapply to the program each year that they meet eligibility requirements.

Notification
All applicants will be notified in March.
