SC Johnson Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

SC Johnson, through its corporate foundation SC Johnson Giving, Inc., has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees and retirees who plan to continue their education in college, vocational school or other approved educational programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the SC Johnson Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent children (natural or legally adopted) or step-children (living in the employee’s household or receiving primary support from the employee) who are unmarried and age 25 or under, of regular, part-time, retired or deceased SC Johnson employees who have a minimum of one year of continuous service with the company on January 15, 2024. Children of employees of SC Johnson subsidiaries or associate companies are ineligible. The program is only open to children of United States employees.
  • Applicants must be current high school seniors, high school graduates, or college undergraduates who are enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational technical school, or other approved educational institution for the entire academic year.

Award Amounts
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Scholarships to sons and daughters of company officers are limited to one-time honorariums in the amount of $1,000.

For programs up to four years in length, awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Students who are in a five-year program as verified by the school, may renew up to four times. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Past academic performance and future potential
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Two online recommendations

Once scholarship recipients are selected, financial data, if provided, is reviewed to determine the amount of each award.  Larger awards are granted to recipients whose families have less means to contribute toward postsecondary expenses. Smaller awards are granted to recipients whose families have greater ability to provide financial assistance.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of SC Johnson play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Students may reapply to the program each year that they meet eligibility requirements.

Notification
All applicants will be notified in March.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of SC Johnson. Payments are made in one installment in August.
