The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Scholarship Program

The Scotts Company LLC has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college {or vocational school programs}.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Scholarship Program must:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of permanent full-time or part-time USA or Canada Scotts Miracle-Gro associates who have a minimum of one year of continuous employment with the company as of the application deadline date and are employed at the level of manager or below.
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Children of seasonal associates including in-store merchandiser/counselor positions and children of associates whose level is director or higher are ineligible to apply to this program.

Awards

One (1) $3,000 award will be given to the highest-ranking applicant and up to twenty-four (24) $2,000 awards will be granted each year. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in mid-May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, including how the applicant has benefited from involvement and leadership in the school and community and how this experience will impact future plans, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of Scotts Miracle-Gro play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 9, 2021 3:00 pm CT.
