The Schulien Family Perseverance Scholarship Program

The Schulien family has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors residing in Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Prince William County in northern Virginia.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to The Schulien Family Perseverance Scholarship must:

  • Be current high school seniors residing in Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Prince William County in northern Virginia
  • Be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college for the entire 2022-23 academic year
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
  • Have a minimum SAT score of 1250 or minimum ACT score of 27.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Award Amounts

One award of $12,000 will be granted.

The award is renewable up to three (3) years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of maintaining full-time enrollment status and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and objectives, overcoming challenges or adversity, and an outside appraisal.

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any member of the Schulien family play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in mid March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Schulien family. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  1. Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.
  2. Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information Page.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than January 21, 2022 4:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
