Sheehy Scholar College Fund

Sheehy Auto Stores, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist employees and children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Sheehy Scholar College Fund must:

  • Be full-time Sheehy Auto Stores, Inc. employees or children of full-time employees who have a minimum of one (1) year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date
  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current college undergraduates
  • Plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award amount determined by the following Sheehy employee annual salary ranges:

Scholarship Levels

  • If the team member’s W2 for the prior calendar year was less than $100,000, the award is $5000
  • If the team member’s W2 for the prior calendar year was between $100,000 and $200,000 the award is $2500
  • If the team member’s W2 for the prior calendar year was greater than $200,000 the award is $1000

Awards may be renewed for up to three (3) additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance, part-time or full-time enrollment, and continued full-time employment by the Sheehy employee.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in April.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Sheehy Auto Stores, Inc. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need will be considered in determining award amounts per the employee salary range listed in the Awards section.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Sheehy Auto Stores, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

    Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
