Stanley Black & Decker Scholarship Program

Stanley Black & Decker offers a competitive scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to pursue post-secondary education in college and vocational programs. Scholarships are offered for full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Stanley Black & Decker Scholarship Program must be:

  • Children* of full-time or part-time** employees of Stanley Black & Decker and its U.S. and Canadian divisions and subsidiaries with a minimum of 90 days of service as of the application deadline date, and
  • High school seniors or high school graduates, between the ages of 17 and 25, planning to enroll or already enrolled in full-time study leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university, an associate’s degree at a community or junior college, or a certificate at an approved vocational-technical institute.

*Child is defined as the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, legally adopted child or legal ward supported solely by the guardian.

**Part-time is defined as a regular part-time employee who is scheduled to work more than 25 hours per week on a regular basis.

Awards

Twenty-five (25) awards of $1,000 and two (2) awards of $2,500 each will be awarded to students majoring in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math.)

A recipient may receive only one scholarship sponsored by Stanley Black & Decker.

Beginning with the 2023 cycle, awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Renewal awards from previous cycles will be honored for previous eligible recipients.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

Applicants will be notified mid-May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Stanley Black & Decker. Payment is made in one installment in early August. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Honors
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Stanley Black & Decker play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
