Stanley Black & Decker offers a competitive scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to pursue post-secondary education in college and vocational programs. Each year, renewable scholarships are offered for full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.
This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Eligibility
Applicants to the Stanley Black & Decker Scholarship Program must be:
*Child is defined as the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, legally adopted child or legal ward supported solely by the guardian.
**Part-time is defined as a regular part-time employee who is scheduled to work more than 25 hours per week on a regular basis.
Award
Twenty-five (25) awards of $1000 will be awarded to undergraduate students. One (1) award of $5000 will be awarded to a student with an engineering major. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continued employment of the student’s parent at Stanley Black & Decker.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and objectives, and unusual personal or family circumstances.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Stanley Black & Decker play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Notification
Applicants will be notified mid-May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Stanley Black & Decker. Payment is made in one installment in early August. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.
