Steiner Family Scholarship

Applicants to the Steiner Family Scholarship must meet all of the following criteria:

Be age 26 and under as of the application deadline date
Be high school seniors/students in their final year of upper-secondary school or graduates who plan to enroll, or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, vocational-technical school or CEGEP (or equivalent) for the entire upcoming academic year
Reside in the U.S. or Canada
Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Awards

Awards of $2,500 or $5,000 each will be granted as follows:

$2,500 awards for two-year colleges, vocational-technical schools, or CEGEPs
$5,000 awards for four-year colleges and universities

Provided there are qualified applicants, recipients from the United States and Canada will be selected in proportion to the number of applicants received per country. The awards will be issued in U.S. currency.

Awards are renewable for up to three consecutive years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance, and continuation of the program by the Steiner Family Scholarship Fund.(Total maximum lifetime award per recipient is $20,000.)

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late April.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

Academic record
Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
Work experience
A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
Unusual personal or family circumstances

Preference will be given to children of employees of former AmeriPride, Canadian Linen and Québec Linge companies who had two or more years of employment as of January 19, 2018, the official date of sale of these businesses.

Academic evaluation of applicants will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Financial need will not be considered.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Steiner Family Scholarship Fund. Payments are made in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
