Seattle Foundation offers a wide variety of scholarships for high school seniors and undergraduate/graduate college students. Doug Struthers taught at Alexander Graham Bell Elementary in the Lake Washington School District for more than two decades. His hard work, commitment and perseverance made a difference in the school and the community. This scholarship fund was created in his memory to help young people learn skills to serve their communities. Four Lake Washington School District students every year are chosen to receive this $5,000 renewable scholarship.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.

Applicants to the Doug Struthers Memorial Scholarship must:

  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
