Subaru of America Foundation Scholarship Program

Subaru of America Foundation, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Subaru of America Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of a fulltime or parttime** Subaru of America Inc. (“Subaru”) domestic employees who have a minimum of one (1) year employment with Subaru as of the application deadline date. Award recipients of the Subaru of America Foundation Scholarship Program are not subject to this employment eligibility requirement.
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, stepor legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primary supported by the employee
    **Employees who work a minimum of 22.5 hours per week (3 days a week) on average throughout the year
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of members of the Board of Directors, and Officers of Subaru of America, Inc. and Trustees of the Subaru of America Foundation, Inc. are not eligible

Awards

The authorized distribution for new awards is up to $75,000. Up to 30 awards of $2,500 each will be granted.

  • The Subaru Legacy Scholarship: assuming there are qualified applicants, up to 25 awards will be granted to applicants who show academic excellence, and pursing a degree in any field of study.
  • The Subaru Drive Towards STEM Scholarship: assuming there are qualified applicants, up to 5 awards will be granted to applicants who are a current sophomore year or above, pursing a degree in STEM (including but not limited to): Healthcare (nursing or pre-med), Engineering (environmental or mechanical), Computer Science (software engineering), Physical and Natural Sciences (actuarial, mathematics, or physics)

Recipients are not eligible to receive both awards in the same academic year.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Subaru of America Foundation, Inc. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Subaru of America Foundation, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 8, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.
