Sysco is a proud supporter of higher education and empowering our youth to become leaders of tomorrow. Sysco Corporation established the John F. and Eula Mae Baugh Sysco Scholarship Program in honor of its first Chief Executive Officer and his wife to recognize the determination, integrity, and perseverance of Sysco associates’ children pursuing undergraduate education at accredited four-year colleges and universities.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the John F. and Eula Mae Baugh Scholarship Program must:
Children of retiring employees in good standing are eligible to apply.
Children of corporate senior vice presidents and above are not eligible to apply.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Up to (23) awards will be granted; financial need will be considered for (9) need based awards, and financial need will not be considered for (14) merit based awards.
To receive award payment, recipient and renewal students’ parents must continue to be employed at Sysco Corporation at the time checks are issued.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university, continued employment of the student’s parent at Sysco Corporation, and continuation of the program by Sysco Corporation.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need will be considered in the selection of need based award recipients. Financial need will not be considered for merit based awards.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of Sysco Corporation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
All applicants will be notified in late June.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Sysco Corporation. Payments are made in August, students outside of the U.S. and Canada will receive wires in September.
