TDS Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

TDS has established a scholarship program to assist children of associates who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the TDS Scholarship Program must be:

  • Applicants must be a dependent child*, age 23 and under, of an active, full-time or part-time (30-39 or 20-29 hours per week) associate of TDS Telecom or TDS Corporate/OneNeck with one year of service as of the application deadline date.

*Dependent child is defined as a natural or legally adopted child, step-child, or legal ward who qualifies as a federal tax exemption to the associate.
  • Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Children of Officers are not eligible for this program.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to 10 awards will be granted. Up to eight awards will be granted to children of TDS Telecom associates and up to two awards will be granted to children of TDS Corporate/OneNeck associates. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Students may receive the award a maximum of two times.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of TDS. Payments are made in one installment in August. The associate must continue to be an active, full-time or part-time (30-39 or 20-29 hours per week) associate when the award is disbursed in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of TDS play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 3, 2023 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
