TDS has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees/associates who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the TDS Scholarship Program must be:
Children of Officers are not eligible for this program.
Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to seven awards will be granted. Up to six awards will be granted to children of TDS Telecom employees and up to one award will be given to a child of an associate of TDS Corporate/OneNeck. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Students may receive the award a maximum of two times.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.
Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee/associate of TDS play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Notification
Applicants will be notified in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of TDS. Payments are made in one installment in August. If an employee/associate’s child is awarded a scholarship, the employee/associate must be an active, full-time employee/associate when payment is made in August in order for the employee/associate’s dependent to be eligible to receive the funds.
