TEST- GuideWell Dependent Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

GuideWell is focused on helping people and communities achieve better health. Each year, the company awards college scholarships to eligible dependents of GuideWell employees.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.

Applicants to the GuideWell Dependent Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent children of current GuideWell employees who have completed a minimum of two (2) years continuous part-time or full-time employment* as of January 1, 2020. At the time of Fall and Spring funds disbursement, the employee must either be active, or have terminated employment due to retirement, death, or reduction in force.
*Does not include temporary or contingent workers.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current undergraduates, age 26 or under as of the application deadline date.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study (at least 12 credit hours per semester) at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or Master’s degree.

One (1) child per family is eligible to receive scholarship funds for a given year, including renewal scholarships.

Dependents of any GuideWell Enterprise Officer or equivalent subsidiary role are not eligible.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an $8,000 award.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years for no more than a total of four (4) years provided the following program requirements are met:

  • The employee must remain actively employed or have terminated employment due to retirement, reduction in force or death.
  • The recipient must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) freshman and sophomore years and a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) junior and senior years. Recipients pursuing a Master’s degree must maintain satisfactory academic performance.
  • The recipient must provide a current, complete transcript of grades. Transcripts must include the student’s name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course and, the term in which each course was taken.
  • If studies are interrupted due to extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness, accident, or death in the family), recipients may request that the scholarship be postponed until the beginning of the next school year. The request must be submitted to Scholarship America within two weeks of the incident. Scholarship America will submit the request to GuideWell for review and approval.
  • In the event the recipient chooses to temporarily attend an educational institution out of the country in a future year, Scholarship America must be contacted to discuss continued eligibility.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered.

Gender, ethnicity and employee location will be considered in the selection process to support GuideWell Enterprise diversity objectives.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of GuideWell play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students not receiving the scholarship may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of GuideWell. Payments are made in equal installments in early August and mid-December.

As part of your application, you must upload a current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.
