The Baxter International Foundation has established a competitive, merit-based scholarship program to assist children of eligible Baxter employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

Children of employees assigned to Kidney Co. are eligible to apply to the 2024 Scholarship Program. If awarded, they can renew their scholarship another three times or until they graduate, whichever comes first, assuming they continue to meet all eligibility criteria.

The scholarship award amount is $3,000 USD.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, financial need or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Baxter Global Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent,* unmarried, natural or legally adopted children, legal wards, or qualifying stepchildren of a current, active employee of Baxter International Inc. as determined by Baxter. The employee must be employed in the United States or one of Baxter’s international subsidiaries or must be a United States citizen assigned to a Baxter subsidiary facility abroad. The employee must have completed at least two (2) full years of full-time or regular part-time service as determined by Baxter, as of the application deadline. Children of retired employees are not eligible.
*Dependent children are defined as natural, legally adopted, or legal wards of an employee; stepchild of an employee whose spouse has legal custody or provides primary financial support; or a child of a domestic partner who has legal custody or provides primary financial support.
  • Be a high school senior/student in their final year of upper secondary school, high school/upper secondary school graduate, or undergraduate who will be enrolled, or is planning to enroll, in a full time* undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university, or vocational technical/polytechnic institution during the academic year for which the scholarship is given.
*Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Be 24 years of age or less at the time of application. Students from Israel can apply up to the age of 28.

Children of Vice Presidents and above and children of retired employees are not eligible.

Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $3,000 USD award. This program is highly competitive, and only the top 25% of eligible applicants will be chosen to receive an award. Provided qualified applications are received, awards will be granted in proportion to the number of applications received per country.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon meeting eligibility requirements, satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by Baxter International Foundation.

Recipients who attend a United States Military Academy will be eligible for a one-time only award of $3,000 USD.

Non-recipients may reapply each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study and can be used for qualified education-related expenses (tuition, fees, books, and required supplies) only.

Notification
All applicants will be notified via email in June. Recipients are required to accept the award and verify their enrollment.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Honors

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Baxter International Foundation. Payment is made in one installment.
