THOTCON Future Hacker Scholarship Program

THOTCON Infinity NFP has established a scholarship program to assist current high school seniors from a Chicago High School who plan to enroll in a cyber security or related field at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the THOTCON Future Hacker Scholarship Program must:

 

  • Current high school seniors from a Chicago Public High School who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Plan to major in cyber security or related field (e.g., computer science, computer engineering, or information systems with security concentration.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. One award will be granted.

Award is one-time only, and is for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, an outside appraisal and an essay.

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of THOTCON Infinity NFP play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of THOTCON Infinity NFP. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
