Tops Markets LLC and DiMino’s Franchise have established a scholarship program to assist qualified associates and qualifying family members who plan to continue their education in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full or part-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the Tops Markets Scholarship Program must:
Salaried employees and the dependents of full-time salaried employees are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Members and their dependents of the UFCW Local One are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
If selected as a recipient, the award will be $1,000. Scholarships are renewable up to three times (the initial year plus three renewals) on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and continued employment by the associate. Associates whose children are recipients must be employed as of the renewal application deadline date and remain employed when scholarship awards are paid each August. Associates who are recipients must work and accrue 100 minimum hours of service in the year prior to the renewal application deadline date (March 1 to March 1). In addition, the associate must work during all school breaks and summers, returning to work no later than June 15, and remain employed until August 1.
Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study.
All applicants will be notified in late April.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Tops Markets LLC-DiMino’s Franchise. Payment is made in mid-August.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, and unusual personal or family circumstances.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Tops Markets
LLC or DiMino’s Franchise play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
