Tops Markets and the DiMino’s Franchise Scholarship Program

Tops Markets and the DiMino’s Franchise have established a scholarship program to assist their employees and their dependents who plan to continue their education in college, university, or a vocational school setting.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Tops Markets Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a non-union full-time or part-time associate*, dependent** of a non-union full-time or part-time associate, or a grandchild** of a non-union full-time or part-time associate of Tops Markets LLC. or DiMino’s Franchise.
    *The associate, or the associate under which the applicant qualifies, must have a minimum of six months intermittent or continuous service with the company and a minimum of 150 service hours in the year prior to the application deadline (March 4, 2024 – March 4, 2025).
    **Dependents of associates and grandchildren of associates must be 25 years of age or younger on March 4, 2025. This age eligibility requirement does not apply to associate applicants.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time study leading to an associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university.

Members and their dependents of the UFCW Local One are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award. Associates whose children are recipients must be employed when scholarship awards are paid each August.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late April.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Tops Markets and the DiMino’s Franchise. Payment is made in mid-August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Tops Markets LLC or DiMino’s Franchise play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are uploading a high school transcript, you must also upload a copy of your test score report(s) if the test scores are not available on your high school transcript.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
