TPC Group Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program

TPC Group, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist students from Cesar E. Chavez and Port Neches-Groves High Schools in Texas. Applicants must meet specific requirements regarding major course of study and postsecondary school which they will be attending.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

TPC Group Sons and Daughters

Applicants to the TPC Group Mark of Excellence Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be a high school senior at Cesar E. Chavez High School or Port Neches-Groves High School in Texas with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university majoring in engineering,* chemistry, or environmental science,

OR

  • Planning to enroll at one of six two-year colleges** to pursue an associate of applied science degree in process, instrument, analyzer, or electrical technology.

*Eligible engineering majors include chemical, electrical, environmental, mechanical, and industrial.

**Eligible two-year colleges are Brazosport College, Lamar Institute of Technology, San Jacinto College, Houston Community College, Lee College, or Lamar State College-Port Arthur.

Awards

The total authorized distribution for new awards will be determined by the Sponsor each year. Provided there are qualified applicants, awards will be allocated according to college choice and following Sponsor directive.

  • Awards of $2,500 will be granted to students at Cesar E. Chavez High School and awards of $2,500 will be granted to students at Port Neches-Groves High School who plan to pursue a degree in engineering (chemical, electrical, environmental, mechanical and industrial), chemistry or environmental science at a four-year college or university.
  • Awards of $1,250 will be granted to students at Cesar E. Chavez High School and awards of $1,250 will be granted to students at Port Neches-grove High School who plan to attend one of six two-year colleges (Brazosport College, Lamar Institute of Technology, San Jacinto College, Houston Community College, Lee College, or Lamar State College-Port Arthur) to pursue an associate of applied science degree in process, instrument, analyzer or electrical technology.

Awards may be used for tuition, fees, books, and required supplies/equipment and are for undergraduate study only.

*$2,500 awards are renewable up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon the student maintaining a 2.75 grade point average and continued full-time enrollment at a four-year school in an eligible course of study as outlined in the eligibility criteria.

*$1,250 awards are renewable for one additional year or until an associate of applied science degree is earned, whichever occurs first.  Renewal is contingent upon the student maintaining a 2.75 grade point average and continued full-time enrollment at an eligible school in an eligible course of study as outlined in the eligibility criteria.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of career and educational goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need will be considered. Recipients will be selected from a pool of qualified applicants with primary consideration given to those who demonstrate the greatest need.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of TPC Group, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in February.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of TPC Group, Inc. Payment is made in mid-July.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
