The Truist Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist teammates’ children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.
The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full- and part-time Heritage SunTrust and Heritage BB+T employees (and its affiliates) United States teammates (including retired or deceased teammates) who have or had a minimum of three years of continuous employment with the company as of the application deadline.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the teammate’s household or primarily supported by the teammate.
Children of Heritage SunTrust teammates grade 53 and higher and Heritage BB&T teammates grade 25 and higher are not eligible to apply.
Applicants will be notified in late May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Scholarship America processes Jim and Jane Wells Scholarship payments in two installments in early August and January.
Financial need is not considered.
Preference will be given to “first generation” college applicants; “first generation” is defined as students whose parents never enrolled in postsecondary education.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Heritage SunTrust, Heritage BB&T or The Truist Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf by 3:00 PM Central Time on May 20, 2020.
Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically through the Scholarship America Student Hub.
